Geez....where are the bass posts?.....I guess nobody is bass fishing anymore...ha ha.
I decided to venture over to Murray this morning despite hearing how tough and bad the bite been by more than a few guys I know and various guys coming off the lake recently. I figured what a perfect time to toss some swim baits as it was rumored that the lake was recently stocked with trout and heck I have not fished Murray in what seems like forever.
I brought a selection of swimbaits and pretty much tossed them here and there. I used a few
different sizes and colored Megabass Magdrafts, a couple Tiny Klashs, a few different sized Huddlestonsdown to throwing a Jackall Gantarel. So then later I worked a few 9 inch worms still with hope that maybe a nice bass would gobble it up. It was fun kind of exciting thinking that maybe I would hook into something nice, but it was not going to happen this morning.
I needed to get a bite so I decided to work a small spoon down in the depths and ended up catching a half dozen aquarium sized bass. I mean micro bass! Still, a bass is a bass and did not get skunked. It was nice to be back on the water again at Murray. Anyway, tight lines to all of you on your next fishing trip.
Come to think of it...I could have stocked my koi pond with these micro bass.

Nice, as you say a bass is a bass, those don’t look so micro to me I’ve caught way smaller than that, I’m not bragging.

It is pretty amazing how small bass will hit baits sometimes bigger than you expect.
I will never forget one time I was casting a jerk bait and I thought it by accident hooked something on the water
like a stick or something. I reeled it in and a very tiny bass that somehow opened his mouth wide enough to have the
treble hook open his mouth. I mean all three prongs of the hook were perfectly in place keeping that little bugger
mouth open. I should have taken a picture, but carefully removed the treble and let him go on his way. My next
bass was a 3 pounder, which was quite a difference from that tiny bass....ha ha

Hey where are some of you Barrett fishermen? Asking for a friend.....well actually I am asking.

I know you have to be fishing somewhere for bass till Barrett opens again next year.
Hopefully you can share a few posts with all of us before then.
Best wishes and Tight lines Always!

I’m still posting at least almost every time I hit Otay, just updating my existing thread with pics and info. I feel like all SD knows about that bite now just based on the number of people hanging out in that spot

Hi Vinny,
I think most Barrett fishermen are trudging around looking at the floor waiting for May 2025. We alternate looking at the floor with looking at the calendar to see if we are a day closer to opening. I personally learned I have a new(er) grandson who is apparently 4 years old already. So the family time is good for to connect with those people who wonder where we are, too.
Disclaimer, for those who are horrified, I was kidding about the grandson. I had heard rumors of his existence, I'm not that bad.
I did post on El Cap the other day. There just hasn't been much to report, since there seem to be minimum fish, and a lot of messing with water levels it seems.

Also, look at my avatar, Vinny, your fish is a trophy comparatively.

Thanks for thinking of us Barrett guys Vinny. I just checked my calendar for opening day. Maybe I’ll see you at Murray for a warmup. I’ll probably catch two there compared to you ten.

Calling out the Barrett Boys..you're a brave man! A fish is a fish..unless the bait is larger than it!

This Barrett Boy tries to spend time on the bay this time of year. Seems like El Cap is first up after Januarys but thinking I will change that up based on coming reports. Then after May 1st, I too become monotonous
