12/3- Two for Tuesday/SD River

Yeah....even though I normally stop fishing the SD river in early November each year, but it’s
December....I decided ah, what the heck!
The water no doubt has cooled down so this morning I worked crank baits and blade baits as slow as I could which is not easy as I tend to work baits like it is mid July...ha ha. To get to the point, as usual, I then started flippin" brush hogs, worms and craw baits. I covered lots and lots of areas and ended up only getting 2 bites all morning. Luckily, I landed both fish using a Texas rigged Googan Krackin' craws(yes, in the June Bug color).
I was amazed at one of the bass as it was short and solid like a football(maybe ate a few river rats recently..ha ha).
The other bass was long and weighed 4.50, yet the photo does not do it justice. Lot of work but still fun.
Two bites, two bass.......Two for Tuesday.

That June bug pays off again. That and your accurate casting and all around expertise.

Hmmmm??? No way...I'm thinkin more like 4.49!!!! Kidding ya...couple of fatty fish! I hate to think what they've been eating that floats down that River. Good job being persistent and nailing those two chubbys!

To think when I saw the June bug color years ago, I thought to myself I would never buy anything like that. Of course those were the
days when almost every plastic was mostly pumpkin, purple, brown or black. I guess it pays to try something new sometimes.

Hopefully the bass down there are just eating shad, crawdads, bluegill, but I imagine after looking at the gut on that
one bass, maybe some rats also..ha ha. I may be one of the only guys on the site that has never owned a rat lure. I have
seen pics of some real hawgs over the years caught on rat type baits and maybe its time to invest in one just for the river.

Yeah, I don’t know what has been keeping me from buying one of of those baits but I definitely should pick one up. I wonder if they have a Junebug colored rat ha ha….just kidding.!!!

Thanks @camobass.
They do have some pretty cool looking rats.
A guy at ECBT showed me some pictures of some bass caught at the river using one of those rats.
It definitely looks interesting and may be a future bait for me.

I never used it much or caught a lot of rat fish, but it wasn't bad when I did.
This the big Spro- and a post spawner from you can guess the lake.
I would like to see you catch one on a rat and report back, Vinny!
