Second best fish of the year 10/1

When I reordered a Tsurinoya Flicker 70 from Aliexpress (see my previous post about a new lure) it was so cheap I decided to pick up a couple of other lures as well including its little brother which came in at 50mm, (under 2 inches) and 3 grams.
After catching probably 2 dozen dinks (1 pound or less) I had about decided I had finally found a topwater walking bait that was so small the the bigger fish would just ignore it. Them all of a sudden....wham!
I was fishing ultralight BFS gear with 5 pound test and it's lucky I had my drag set well because she peeled off line numerous times before I could tire her enough to get her landed. In case you haven't heard it before, I love my BFS fishing.
The fish came in at 5.6 pounds. My second biggest of the year after the 8 pounder earlier at Hodges. I mean I love the 3 and 4 pounders too, but things get really special over that 5 pound mark in my opinion.

My BFS reels are spooled with only 50-70 yards of line to help with casting distances. I could almost see the spool a couple of times during the fight lol

Love it! Bfs fishing is so fun. I mostly throw bfs gear in the bay myself but this looks like a really fun way to target the busters. Might just have to hit up one of the city lakes soon!

Very nice! Bet that was a big surprise!
I imagine you are always having fun when you are catching bass even clones around 2 lbs or even smaller
each trip because of the excitement of the water exploding on those small topwater baits. And then
a real blast when out of the blue a healthy bass beats the others to your bait and engulfed that small bait.
Nice job buddy! Otay or Murray?

With how long that fish looks and the size of its fins…it’s definitely waiting for a trout stock to add another 3lbs or so…

That's a great fish on any gear, that you got it on your BFS setup makes it even better. I really enjoy the BFS stuff too. I know big lures usually means big fish, but sometimes the big ones just want an in-between meal snack, I think.

The tail whip on that long’un would peel off line like a yellowtail!

Great job out there man! I did order some of those after your last post. Still waiting to get them. Light line is the best!

Great job my friend. What type of line are you using on your bfs reel
