MLB Playoffs 2024
MLB Playoffs... Ok.. I know there are a bunch of Padre fans here... And maybe one or two Dodger fans (Me
)... So lets here some chatter... Not necessarily $hit talk, but baseball talk... The Padres have really come on strong in the last part of the season, and the Dodgers finished with the best W/L in the MLB, so it'll make for an interesting October... The Dodgers will be without Freddie Freeman (Amongst many others)for the start, and he's one of their steadiest players.. How is the Padres health?

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
Scaring thing for the Dodgers is the playoff games today were low scoring. With great stating pitching, which is the one thing the Dodgers suck at because of all the injuries

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
I can't say baseball is my most committed sport.
Will always support our Padres.
But as a former New Yorker who followed the first Met team in 1962 with my grandfather....
Let's go Met's.
The Braves will not be a push over.
Go Padres.

Well, the Dodgers get the 1st one… Good game, and it wasn’t over until the fat lady sang… The Dodgers are gonna really have to rely on their relievers… Good game for Ohtani…..

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
I heard a good one the other day on a podcast that I was listening to.
"These new Padres fans? They seem to hate the Dodgers, more than they love their own team."
And what about the Padres restricting ticket sales to their home games to only San Diego and south Orange County? I find that pretty hilarious.

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
Who are these new fans? Do they wear patches or special letters that set them apart from old fans? Most of the players themselves are not unlikeable dudes. I mean, I get actual joy from watching the leprechaun flop. Genuine tool. Smith’s a tool. Bueller. Like to think he’s just cocky, because I enjoy watching him pitch. All tools need a tool box. Doosh roberts, paging doosh roberts. I get nauseous whenever I have to hear he’s actually from San Diego. Damn shame. We don’t claim him. Back to the game, I haven’t seen the padres hand over a game so completely in a long time. A few runs were “earned”, but the W?

Hey, a “W” is a “W”… You wanna give it to us, we’ll take it.. Give the Dodgers 2 more, and I’ll be happy.StinkyPinky23 wrote: Sun Oct 06, 2024 1:50 pm I haven’t seen the padres hand over a game so completely in a long time. A few runs were “earned”, but the W?![]()

Yea, what’s with that???… If the Padres can’t find fans to fill the seats, we’ll loan ‘em some.DarkShadow wrote: Sun Oct 06, 2024 11:05 am

So, you called players, 'tools,' and 'dooshs.'StinkyPinky23 wrote: Sun Oct 06, 2024 1:50 pm Who are these new fans? Do they wear patches or special letters that set them apart from old fans? Without even quantifying why they are,'tools' and 'dooshs.'
That's how we can tell who the new Padre fans are. You pretty much fell in line with my comment earlier of someone saying that Padre fans hate the Dodgers, more than they love their own team.
On the same note, we have 'new' Dodger fans too. We can tell who they are, because they are the idiots that throw trash on the field, like today's embarrassing situation.
So, the Padres don't have many unlikeable guys either. Most of that team is built of salt of the earth guys. Love Arraez, love Merril as well.
Then we get to Manny Machado. This is the guy who was with the Orioles that launched a baseball bat at Josh Donaldson when he had beef with him, not realizing it wasn't Josh Donaldson and the A's had put in a new 3rd baseman.
And Tatis Jr? Hope he doesn't have to piss in a cup again.
Game 2 looks like it is pretty much over. San Diego did what it needed to do, and was win 1 in LA.
As many sports pundits say, the series begins when the away team wins one.

This might be the most retarded reasoning I’ve ever heard! I need to go thru and cite examples of people’s dooshiness, or else I’m a new fan?
That clearly shows how little I care about the padres. That’s a pretty goofy take there.
Today’s embarrassing situation?!?! Throwing things and fighting people is new for Doyers fans, eh?!?! That take tells me you might have watched a few games this year, and read the LA Times Sports Page for info to form opinions on
Tatis-I’ll just leave this here.
https://www.itia.tennis/news/sanctions/ ... ik-sinner/
Anyone that thinks what Tatis took was for “performance enhancement” is an idiot. Also clearly never set foot in a gym, or been anywhere near actual anabolic steroids and anyone that has experience with them. Nobody is taking clostebol for weight lifting/body building/strength enhancement
Manny- Kind of a tool. He’s our tool. Even Pedroia himself said the slide that hurt his knee wasn’t dirty. “It ended his career”- Some stupid fans somewhere
Tuesday should be fun

Ugly game for the Dodger fan (Me)... The Padres played well... Congrats... I wasn't there, but I for one, am ashamed of the idiots throwing crap on the field..... This is not how most Dodger fans react.... Just the fools...

Search “Craig Calcaterra” and the first thing you’ll see is a pic of him in his dodgers hat

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
Top Step Dave at it again. I didn’t even need to go dig up his past eyewash garbage. He created more! He sent video to MLB to try and unite his team against the “villains”
. He honestly needs to wear a curly blue wig and big red nose while standing on the top step jawing and making facial expressions for 9 innings a night

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
The slinging of the ball was a great move by Machado, IMO, unless of course, the Dodgers use that somehow as locker room whiteboard material. He's always been good at getting into heads of his opponents and this is just another example on how he does that. I think that as an encore tonight, he should slowly roll a foul ball towards the Dodger's dugout and smirk.
(Although this ball incident wasn't as harsh as his bat flinging incident that he'll be known for tho!)

Not a Re-enactment
Regardless, the slinging of the ball into the Dodgers dugout 'incident' is the definition of 'much ado about nothing," as the GOAT Vin Scully used to say, but it seems Machado continues to cement his way towards the "Doosh" Hall of Fame. Now I realize why the Dodgers never signed him after we rented him.
Game 2 was embarrassing as a life long Dodger fan, and I'm not referring to what happened between the foul lines. In 1995, I interned for the Dodgers and had season tickets as a perk. Those were the days where the stadium's loudspeakers were silent, and all that you can hear from them was the organ being played by Nancy Bea, and the roar of the crowd. Nowadays? I feel sorry for people who have epilepsy because of all the lights and electronics going off every single 10 seconds. The fact that most human beings nowadays have the attention span of your average house fly is the reason that stadium no longer has the same feel.
The only Dodger games I go to nowadays are the 1 pm starts, since I work from home. I haven't gone to a game that starts after 5 pm in almost a decade. The stadium is no longer made to go watch baseball games. It's pretty much a night club for the entire family. Our fans have become one of the most terrible fan bases in baseball, and last night showed it.
HAVING SAID THIS, i still find it hilarious that Padres fans take to the streets after ONE win against the Dodgers as if they have won the World Series, when they have yet to sniff one of these since the team's inception in '69.

You'll notice that the trophy is from 1988, because again, as a legit Dodger fan, but more importantly, a bigger BASEBALL fan, I don't consider our 2020 "World Series" win as nothing but a consolation prize for not dying of Covid.
I'll leave you with some elevator music for the Padre fans.
Game 3 should be very interesting.

Saying “at least we won in ‘88!!!” is almost comparable to saying “look at what that terrible guy did 11 years ago!”

It’s gonna take me an hour to get home today. I think I’ll hit the video button on the way home and capture all these padres fans lining the streets. I hope they stay out of the streets and highways, that could be dangerous!
Ohtani up to bat in 4 hours and 36 minutes!!!!

Re: MLB Playoffs 2024
"Comparable" means that i was trying to make a comparison, which I was not. Those were two separate thoughts that aren't associated with one another. Manny being a 'doosh' has nothing to do with you guys not having won a World Series. Again, two separate thoughts.StinkyPinky23 wrote: Tue Oct 08, 2024 1:07 pm Saying “at least we won in ‘88!!!” is almost comparable to saying “look at what that terrible guy did 11 years ago!”
Hard to understand, I know.
I'm beginning to believe you're one of those fans that buy the "NLCS CHAMPS" shirts.
Don't feel bad tho, half our fans do too.
Hope Game 3 provides the fireworks that are expected.
