9/24- Miramar

A lot tougher this morning than my other trips to Miramar this year where in past trips things were going off.
The water was glassy and looked like an oil painting with the lack of any type of action on the surface. I tried to drum up some action on the surface using a Gunfish, then a Sammy and even an IMA Skimmer. Then I worked all types of reaction baits and finally after 2 hours, I landed a little dink. It wasn't till around 10, when I saw a few little commotions on the surface and most of the time they were always out of reach. WhenI was close enough, I was started to land some bass. I means these were bass were runts and I wondered what the heck happened to all the nicer healthier ones I was catching on some of my past trips?
I just had to laugh(between swearing)after landing a few more and a guy in a boat near me got a kick out of my comments about the tiny bass and said.. "be happy you are at least catching something". Yeah I guess I was kind of spoiled on other trips and should be thankful. There was a breeze now on the water and I basically just continued to fan cast reaction baits. The highlight of the morning was catching a bass that weighed a few ounces over 3lbs on a jerk bait. It looked so much bigger in comparison to the other bass I landed but the scale set me straight. :-) After what seemed like a few hundred casts, I was pretty lucky to land 9 bass, even though 8 of them were just dinks.
Always better to be on the water and catch some bass, then being at home... wishing I was fishing.

You get the picture.....

Which one is the 3 pounder? Not good at estimating weights.

May I suggest that you make an appointment soon at Ramona Eye Care, which is right there in your neck of the woods on 1662 Main Street, Suite B.
It may help you on your next fishing trip and when you’re viewing posts on Sdfish. :-)

I think that's the doctor for all the horses, chickens, and goats in Ramona...they all have perfect vision now ....

Thanks for the update! I'm having trouble deciding where to fish this weekend and this was one of the possibilities. Still not sure. Cheers!

The bite at Miramar really went from 100 to 0 over the past few weeks. Last month you could toss any sort of spoon and get bit anywhere in the lake

Yeah, you got that right. Even talked to a few other guys this morning and they said the same thing. I worked really hard just to get the fish I got.

Nice work pulling out a nice fish! Things have been quiet, bitewise, for me too this past week. Just casting from shore, but I can usually scare up a keeper or two. All on jerkbaits. Sunday morning was my last fish. Just a few bites since then and that was throwing soft plastics.

Busters all over the lake again in late afternoon out in the middle of the lake. Both of the last few days. 3-5 PMish Not sure if they're biting then, but there have been boats right there trying.

Yeah the times before last, there were busters out early and surprised when a few they finally started up around 10. Not even close to
the number months ago and bass that wanted to play. Could have been just an off day.
Personally(probably from being old) I dislike driving in traffic on 15 South to 8 East heading back home on a weekday late in the day,
so I usually leave by 1 or so at the latest. I probably am missing a good bite in the late afternoons.
