9/15 report

Post by Kriptiks »

went on sunday for the last and only trip of the year. unfortunately coming from LA its hard to get out too many times. thanks for all the prior reports to hear the excitement and so that i have some bearings on what is happening.

got to the gate at 430 and it was just opened with maybe 5 cars ahead of us. luckily had a boat resy so me and the buddy loaded up and went to our usual rock pile about 2/3 the way down hauser in the dark. anchored up and half heartedly fished in the dark while trying to rig up the poles. nothing on top all day. ended up catching a few smalls then headed to the back when the light came up. found a few spots in the standing brush where we picked off small ones with jerkbaits and small keitechs. biggest was about 3.5lbs out of 20-30 smalls. couple of the sunfish we caught ended up bigger than most of the green ones.

sun was really coming through the overcast by now and starting to warm up. we ended up back near our starting point at another rock wall. this one had good depth change and not too much by way of brush piles (i hate taking off the barrett web moss from all my lures). fishing in depths from 7-20 feet seemed the key as we dragged up wackys through the different depths and was catching almost every cast for about an hour. called it a day with about 50-60 for the boat. not the size we wouldve liked but still a fun day

good luck with the rest of the season!

Sounds like a pretty representative day for a Barrett veteran in 2024. Good job getting on them!
