Hi all. I grew up in San Diego and now am up north in Ojai. I’ve got great memories of Barrett from 20 years ago, just after the lottery moved to Ticketmaster. I fished it quite a bit in that period.

I have never fished it without a boat though! I want to bring my sons down there now that they’ve caught the bug (we can see Lake Casitas from our house) and I think we are going to have to buy three of these shore/tube spots in order to get on the lake during our two available weekends (of sept 22 and 29)

Is there enough fishable shoreline that we could have a decent day or half day without flotation?

Of course I have to mention that I would be happy to buy a boat spot for 21/22/28/29 if one was for sale.

If anyone feels like sharing access intel I’d be very grateful.

Check with the tube rules, you might get more than one head per ticket. As for shoreline fishing, it’s pretty limited. You would be scrambling down some steep, rocky, critter-infested areas to get to the water. Pigs Point does have better access but is busy at times with launchers. There is a pretty consistent number of guys fishing the docks daily, and they are catching.

Thanks for the info. Maybe 3 or 4 hours of fishing the dock zone would be worth the trip. I can remember catching one or two by the dam shoreline at the last cast on the way in.

There is a pretty good spot by the dock with the water up. It’s below the parking lot towards the dam and I’ve seen some good fish pulled in from there. I got a small one too before heading home this spring.

Shoreline is largely unfishable aside from Pig's but there are a couple spots. Dock can be very productive but has slowed down a ton as summer has progressed. I had my best fish/hour day of my life while fishing at the dock this year with a handful of other really great days as well, but it's been pretty slim pickings the last 3 weeks. Even the average size of the panfish at the dock (usually monstrous) has gone down in the past couple weeks as the heat is kicking up.

Boat tickets may still be available on Ticketmaster for some of those dates for what it's worth.
