Hi all,
I finally have some time to head out and explore the IV next weekend. I've been hearing for years about the miles and miles of fishing opportunity out there and am finally going to pull the trigger and experience it for myself. It's a big place so reaching out here to see if anyone can recommend any places to start out. I'd rather be fishing vs driving all over. I'll be fishing lures/plastics for LMB, SMB and striper if possible. I'm happy to fish any combo of canals, ponds and lakes and will primarily be shore fishing but will also bring my paddle board just in case. thanks!

Google earth. Look for the drops. Fish the white water side. The upper can produce too but the flow stirs up crawdads and bait..plus it’s the “end of the road” when fish swim upstream. Flow is best but not necessary. You may be able to find a time schedule on line.

As far as paddle board, you’ll have to look up lake finney up past Brawley

The best part of the IV is exploring. Don't neglect the tiny cement canals either. If all else fails, fish along Graeser Rd.

This island with the power plant in calexico is very fishy, but also very popular. Easy easy access to camoing and fishing. Ive camped there several times. Theres big lmb, smb, and bg. also carp and cats. They get fished for everyday. You will see them but might not catch them.

Man, that island was a spot my family used to camp at when I was a kid. It was/is a great cat spot too. So many memories. Some squatters tried to take it over at times and last time I was down there, some officials tried to run us off. Definitely a fishy spot

Nice canal fish and in a fly too boot!

Always had my best luck below the drops in the whitewater and just outside of the whitewater r. Eddies too.
