Took my good friend Randy (who is still new to fishing) out float tubing at Murray, hoping to get him introduced to some topwater action. He was really jazzed as he landed his first three topwater bass, one of which went 4.3 lbs. Sadly no picture though as he dropped it taking it off the scale.
As has been the case lately, the topwater bite dwindled quickly and died when the sun came through. Randy had to leave at 11, and I spent the next 3 hours trying to figure out a pattern. Picked up a couple of dinks on a swim bait and a couple more on a jerkbaits.
I finally found a good bite around 2pm, pulling jigs over points and dropoffs in 15 - 20 feet of aqua. Landed 7 over the next hour before I had to go. Nothing huge, all in the 2-3 lb. clone range, but still a lot of fun.
Planning a late morning trip back there today so we'll see if that pattern holds.
Tight lines all!
