Redemption... sort of.

I have been hitting the surf in all my normal hali spots last week because of great negative tides at the right time but even with everything in my favor in four outings and two lost LC's i only got 2 tiny shorts. I was thinking i may never be able to catch a saltwater fish again and was sulking thinking how could i have forgotten all i know about fishing for surf halibut and bass . I said to myself i just need to catch a fish any fish . I packed my boat and headed down the street to Oceanside harbor. Im glad i did because although all the fish i caught were small they were fish and i caught them . I was throwing a white swimjig first and got a bunch of lizard fish early at the mouth of harbor. I did venture outside but no love. When I came back into harbor i started throwing hook up baits in mint and sardine and started slaying very short halis and a bunch of Spotties. They were not up close to the breaks or even in the rocks but i got them drifting in 20-25 feet of water in the main channels I ended th day with respectful numbers of spotties way to many lizard fish and about a half dozen shorts

That's fishing. You can feel like you really understand something and then it's all blanks. Nice job getting through and catching fish. Looking forward to getting out there with you.
