Here's the update on 27 July. Got there at the usual time. Met a few of the usual suspects and we all headed out. Met one of the people on this site and had a nice chat. It was nice to meet you Steve. Warm at 0430 and the water was 79F. Very light and pleasant wind. Becky's cove has been busy lately, so I headed a little further into Hauser. Chuck has been advocating a huge crawler and doing well with it. So, I tied one on and cast it out. On the third cast it got hit and I got rewarded with what would be the big fish for me. 4 pounds 9 ounces on a giant crawler. I included the picture below, but I should have put a light on it. So I kept working shoreline, actually the whole day was shoreline for me. I alternated between the giant crawler, a popper and a pompadour crawler. Fish were very cooperative today. Got further back in Hauser and there were some busters, but I couldn't seem to get them. The Zara Spook scored zero fish today. Got back to the #7 Rapala and that was like a magic lure again. Good mix of 1, 2 and 3 pounders, all from casting to the shore and twitching it. Not a retrieve strike, all twitch strikes and the hit came as it floated back up. On the way back to pigs, I started playing with a jig and that worked great. Same as last time, every strike came on the first drop, or the first hop, after that, nothing.

I think most people had a good day, everyone I talked to was very positive. Friend of mine and his son boated a ton of fish and the son out-fished the dad, so I'm guessing there was some serious teasing going on there. He did pick up some very nice fish and it's great to see parents and kids sharing a day together.

Got done at 1100 and had a great day. Not a lot of wind even then, but pretty warm. Truck claimed 100F, and driving it for a few minutes stayed at 94F, so pack your hydration and sunscreen.
It looks bigger in the dark.

Good popper fish.

This is one of the late morning jig fish.

When they hit that bigger crawler, it's the best!! especially when it's calm and silent in the morning.

It kind of surprised me. It was quiet and then suddenly a lot of commotion. Sure is fun.
