Havent been there in years. Took my kayak out. Set up on a nice spot and started. Even though there werent many people around, big mouth on the cell phone and other anglers caused me to rethink my spot.

Tied up to the bouy line on the west side. I had tulles, rocks, steep and gradual banks, shadow, shore, and depth all within my reach. I stayed there for 5.5 hours and had the area to myself. Random busters proved there were bass around.

All my poles had 6 or 8lb test.

Jerkbaits, mini jerks, cranks, brokebacks, bottom diggers, mini cranks, spies, minivibe, kastmaster....nada

microjigs, tanuki, and even a 15" worm....nada

Also $17 to fish

I don’t even like to keep track of how much money I’ve spent just fishing Lake Murray. Being a senior, it used to be quite a deal and then they jacked us the other year. Just for example…..even in my kayak, it used to be four dollars for a permit and two dollars for the kayak ($6) and now I have to pay $12 when I fish out of my kayak. Crazy

I haven’t fished Murray for a few weeks, but I know they are still eating a lot of shad so any type of jerk baits or reaction baits would probably be the number one thing to throw. Weeks ago, my bigger fish coming out of there were on brush, hogs, and double tail Yamamoto grub in a little deeper water. The launch ramp is still out of the water, but I’ll be back as soon as they start raising the water a little higher. I agree as it is a very strange lake where fishing could be going off one day and two days later or even the next day, It’s like it never even happened. Tight lines guys
