Anyone know if the schedule for our lakes is just the usual this week? Only San V and Murray open Thursday like normal or are there additional lakes open/closed on account of the holiday?
Looking to get out for a few hours in the morning.
Thanks in advance!

I looked on the City Lakes website and for El Cap, Hodges, Sutherland and Otay and all of them say this below as far as Holidays being open.
ps Miramar is open but still closed to watercraft still which includes float tubes kayaks and boats

Curious if anyone has experience fishing on the 4th. A few years ago I was surf fishing in the morning, off the water by 7AM, and there was a line of cars waiting to get into the parking lot and fighting over my space. Is it a zoo at our local reservoirs?

I think the last time I fished on the 4th of July was several, did I say several decades ago. I was over at Lake Murray and the place was jam packed even in the morning. No plans to stay for the firework show as I just wanted to fish for a few hours. I was shore fishing and all I remember was that every time I caught a bass I had lots of kids running over to see the fish. And then their parents with puzzled looks on their face(like a monkey trying to solve a math problem) when I kept releasing the bass back in the water.
"You aren't going to keep the fish?" I was polite and tried to explain in a way that I was letting the fish go so they can get bigger among with other explanations, but after so many times that question really started to annoy me so I swore I would never fish on the 4th of July again.

That's what I figured. Only thing worse is if they made it a no-license day! Good opportunity to head out east,
@CorsoEnthusiast and hit the canals.

I haven’t been down there in a while, last couple trips have been rough and it’s gonna be blazing out there. It’s an option for sure, most likely I’ll start fishing out there again in September/October ish.
If the list of open lakes Vinny posted is accurate, I think I know where I’m going. Friday I’ve already got plans to be at D&K early.

Looking forward to see where you go and how you do and how many other fishermen braved the crowds on the 4th.
Tight lines

Yeah, I love fishing, and I fish A LOT, but I'm with Vinny on this one. I'm gonna avoid the inevitable crowds and enjoy air conditioning for the day. Or maybe enjoy a nice dip in the pool. I'll look forward to hearing about your experience! Let us know how it goes for sure

The fish in the middle pic was a perfectly executed sight fish. I saw her cruising, made one perfect cast to put the bait right in front of her, bait didn’t splash the water enough to spook her and I got to watch her come up and eat it. Felt like throwing a TD pass!

Awesome brother! Otay has been amazing hasn't it? You are laying them with that sight fishing.
