May 2-Murray: Top of the Late Morning

Dang it!!! I have to tell you that I had a completed story ready to post and lost it by opening another window and not saving it as a draft.
After screaming several "special" words showing my frustration...here is the post and a lot shorter than the original which is good as many of you know most of my posts are a little wordy....ha ha(Waiting for a guaranteed comment by @mcfish)
Anyway, did not think about going fishing today but since I did not go over the weekend and yesterday, I quickly gathered my tackle
and loaded up my kayak and headed to Murray. I was off to a late start but wanted to give it a shot for a few hours this morning. I finally got on the water a little before 8 a.m. I was thinking of hitting the tulles, but saw some surface action off in the distance. I tossed a Sammy over near the action and was rewarded pretty quickly as a bass slammed it. A little while later I lost a bass on the jump on a Gunfish. I quickly tossed back in that area and landed a smaller bass. Surface was dead for a while and started tossing under spins and finally hooked up what felt like a nice bass and then line got slack. Did he break the line? Nope...the line came back with a curly cue at the end of it. Stupid me should have checked the knot better. The surface action was done when suddenly a bass started jumping and I quickly grabbed the rod with a Sammy on it and landed another topwater bass. Soon the winds came up and I Texas rigged a 7" worm(about 5 inches bigger than most worms @mcfish uses) and after several casts I landed a bass and left pretty quickly after that. Never even made it to the tulles.
Hopefully there will be more and more topwater action as things start to warm up for the summer.
