After my joyful but brief success at catching my first smallmouth bass, I wasn't able to locate anymore, so it was back to catching trout. But as the weather warmed up, so did Flaming Gorge, bringing masses of sun and watersport seeking recreationalists out to the area.
The trout started to migrate further off the shore into cooler and quieter waters. With fun seekers frolicking around the once hotspots and temperatures getting up int the 80s it was time head to the now thawed out Uinta mountains again. No bass are present up there, but the trout action and the scenery are worth spending all day in the trees.

I think I stumbled onto Fred Flintstone's back yard, or partyhenge.

Time to skeedaddle to the mountains where there are plenty of trees for shade.

So, yesterday was my first fishing trip up in the mountains for this season. The water in all the lakes and creeks was very high, and fishing was great. I fished on Sheep Creek just before it dumps into Long Park reservoir. I used a dropshot rig with a small straight tail grub nose hooked on a #10 circle hook. Then I cast it upstream and kept a tight line as it bounced down towards me. This caught about 12 trout. I never knew what I was going to land next. Brookies, graylings, rainbows and cutthroat (or cutbows) all bit....and they were all as colorful as I have ever seen yet.

Anyway, had a great day, mostly sunny, with one little rain squall passing through late in the morning. Let the rest of the summer mountain fishing begin!

Was going to ask if you found the grayling ponds. I did a pretty cool hike up to 12,000' and found them biting but had to scram when a thunderstorm reared its head.

There was a lot of grayling in Sheep creek and Long Park reservoir. I say "was" because just a week or so ago the Fish and Game rotenoned most of the tributaries to stock cutthroat trout. They were afraid that the brookies would overtake and eliminate the cutthroat population. Like most other anglers, I was not in favor of this. I like variety.

OMG! Always love to see your posts @TaBASSco and the beautiful pics you include with them. It is
such a treat to read and see places I have never been to or experienced. It is such a far cry from the scenery of the homeless
camps along the SD River that I experience time to time...ha ha. Anyway, thank you for sharing your adventures with us as I
know many look forward to them. Tight lines and Best Wishers Always! ...Vinny
