Hi jwall! Thanks for watching the video … yes it can be really good fishing this part of the river or really bad lol 🫠 but is definitely a fun place to do some urban fishing 🎣

I'm glad to see that it looks like that spot has bounced back. It used to be one of my favorite places to fish, but there was a big die-off several years back. I have caught some good ones in there.

Your videos make me want to ditch my boat and fish the river again!

I really don’t want to be that guy but I’m gonna say it. I can’t get past the fact that there are Hundreds of Homeless people living the length of that watershed with no access to restrooms. It sits in my head that the water is Poop stew. No doubt there is some good fishing in there. There is good fishing in my similar River in Orange County I don’t get in that water anymore either. I grew up playing in it when the water was even worse. I’m still here. I have to admit it mostly doesn’t smell bad unless you kick up some mud. It’s just that I know what is leaching into the water. Am I wrong or is it that it is close and productive enough that you can get in there and overlook it? The City says it can’t put Porto potties in there because there is to much of a risk of pollution. Kind of a catch 22. The source of the pollution is from not having available restrooms. Sorry for bringing it up but it must be on others minds. I quit surfing in Orange County after talking to a Waste Water Guy and finding out raw sewage often enters the Surfline. They don’t have to report it until it reaches a certain level. Can the City rectify this valuable resource and clean it up? I read they are considering developing a Riverwalk thru there. Will they ban fishing it once they notice people are enjoying fishing there? Does anybody have a clue on their plans?

No worries about bringing it up, I'm pretty sure that everybody that fishes there just chalks it up as part of the game. When I used to fish there a lot, I would cringe when a bass would splash water on my face. I would always sanitize my hands when I got back to my car. It's pretty sad. For those that haven't fished it though, especially from a tube, you'd be surprised how nice of a place it can be. From a tube, even in the heart of Mission Valley, once you get away from the launching spot it's secluded and peaceful. The thick cover pretty much blocks out everything happening on shore. And there are some biggins in there.

That is, until you get water on your face. :D

bendopolo 44+ -That’s why is good to get some good waders a good amount of hand sanitizer lol .. is a good feeling to be in the urban river areas and get some green fish .. it will be great for the fish to get some healthier water but if this includes cleaning the shorelines it will ruin the fishing experience 4 sure .. not to mention the amount of pressure this spots will get from any angle
