Has anyone been to Henshaw this year? Gonna try to go over Memorial weekend for nostalgia. I'll post a report.

My fishing Buddy Dave hit Henshaw yesterday. Says he caught 1 baby crappie. Thats it. Also informed they were spraying the water for algae. The water was all green. Not good.

I went out with @tubefly on Saturday chasing carp on the fly. We ran into a huge school of crappie about the size of a basketball court that was barely within reach of our fly lines wading up to our waist. Bill got four crappie but didn't take any pics so I don't think they're of any size.

I found this thread on SCH Outdoors spanning May to last weekend. Good size crappie were caught in May, but seems like it's died down. And they just coppered the lake to control the algae as noted above. Hopefully not too detrimental, we didn't notice an effect over the weekend.

Anyone that takes an Aluminum boat with a bare unpainted hull be sure to wash completely with a good detergent . Copper treated water drills holes in aluminum . Just a thought to keep in mind . WR

I went again yesterday. There were dozens of dead catfish, and few dying ones, along the shore. And thousands of dead shad along the east bank. I kicked up the catfish on to the bank for the buzzards. Hopefully it's the tail end of the die off, and not the beginning.
