Does any else carry a emergency barrett lake kit? To me its important to come prepared especially in barrett ...
Things in my kit.....
Basic tools,Emergency pancho , Emergency blanket, Venom kit, lighter, solar battery charger, couple head lights,first aid kit..

Still Need to get a .....emergency portable water filter


What do you take for barrett for a emergency?

You could replace all that with a sat phone! Hahaha

The most important thing like mentioned above is a lot of water and a whistle.
Those water straws can be handy.

I would bring super glue as you can mend the smallest cuts to pretty large gashes with it. If you’re in a tube, gorilla vinyl tape and a hand pump.

Don’t be one of those yayhoo city folk and try and start a signal fire with your spare lighter and burn down San Diego like that guy who started the cedar fire,

Plenty of people on the lake and patrol boat.

The venom kit for sure is pretty fake i admit,however it does have a few things for insect bites and stings so i keep it in the bag since it doesnt take up a lot of room,a small flame can be super handy luckly i never had to use one but one stays in my bag,super glue for sure i will be packing never really though about that one... water snacks and food i usually pack plenty of, satellite radio will be a great idea, i do bring walkie talkies when i go with a buddy just incase.. to be honest i usually bring all this things with me whenever i go fish anywhere , call me paranoia but i will survive a couple nights with my fishing bag in a emergency

Right on. I’ve sealed wounds down to the bone with super glue more than once. If you’re spending the night at Barrett, the only emergency item you’ll need is your rod! Haha

I think I carry too much #hit to begin with to have room for an emergency kit.

But,if there's anything that can fit in an emergency kit that'll fix a pulled hamstring after running down the path with a 60 pound battery....I'm all ears.

Go lithium.... i use to carry around a 31 group battery weights 67 pounds now my lithium battery weights 11 pounds with more power, worth every penny
Emergency kits dont have to be big,mine fits in my hand with everything listed above, a Gatorade bottle takes up more room then my kit.

Consider taking 2-3 Pedialyte single packets.Just add into your water bottle.
It stops any cramping and keeps you hydrated on the hot days coming up.

Heat is the main thing to worry about. Seems like every time I go to Barrett, there is a heat advisory on. So to prevent heat exhaustion:
About 2 liters of water (if there all day). Cold water best, either thermos of a bottle with a cloth jacket that you can keep wet.
At least some salty snacks. This helps fluid retention and preventing cramps. Plenty of food in total. Caffeinated snacks.
Wide brim hat, one that you can dip in the water for evaporative cooling
A thin dish towel. This can be wetted and draped around the neck for evaporative cooling. Special towels are sold for this but an ordinary towel works just as well.
A thermos of water and ice for when you get back to the car. I can go thru a liter of cold water despite drinking water all day.
Light colored thin fabric clothes.

May sound elementary to list all the above but every year lots of people die from heat exhaustion, including recently in San Diego.

Lots of sunscreen
Super glue is a good idea, fixes any sort of cut or hook puncture plus great for gluing soft plastics. If you are prone to sinking hooks in yourself, then some heavy line to remove the hook (search online for how).

The pedialyte packets are a great idea to have .. sunglasses i usually take 2 pairs incase i forgot one. Last year im pretty sure i saved someone gave him a couple waters and snacks,he came in late in the afternoon and i remembered him saying he paddle all the way up from pines and he had his last bottle water around noon, im surprise he didnt pass out from the heat that day it was way over 100 degress

Water definitely #1. Not a bad idea to buy water filtering straws. I keep one in every vehicle, pack etc. would have worked for the guy who ran out of water.

Don't bring any actual emergency kit stuff but stuff I bring and use for comfort/accidents:

1. 50% more water than I expect to drink.

2. I have 2 Simms Solarflex Guide Cooling Hoodies that I alternate and wash every couple trips that do a great job keeping me cool even on absolute scorcher days. Literally the only fishing specific apparel I own and they are fantastic. 105 degrees with dry wind ripping in my face feels like 85 degrees at most. Often won't even sweat. You can find these for 30-50% off somewhat often.

3. Super glue. I carry it for gluing baits but sometimes I need to glue myself.

4. Wet wipes. Nobody wants to do the old #2 at Barrett but whether you're fishing on the deck or at the end of Hauser, you'll be real thankful to have a pack of wipes with you if nature calls.

5. Athletic tape. Rarely use it but sometimes a bunch of fish scrape you just right during a hot bite and destroy your thumb/palm. This is an easy fix.

I don't carry them, but a pair of dykes to cut through a split ring or hook so it's easier to remove it from yourself. And some braid so you can rip the hook from your hand (learn how on YouTube). But you shouldn't need any of this because you crimped your barbs!
