4/24 Murray-Deep again

Decided to head over to Murray mid morning and was the only boat launch. A lot can change since my last fish report from there
9 days ago, but I decided to stick to fishing deeper waters(20'-35') again. "It is crazy!" McFish told me recently . "This is time of the
year the bass should be in tighter and in shallower waters". I totally agree, but I figured I have all summer to fish shallow and there
I was in 25' of water starting to work reaction baits. I switched baits here and there and was working a Damiki Vault Blade bait close
to the bottom and a bass gladly inhaled it.
Switching baits a lot is just something I do.( I blame coffee or maybe I am just hyper...ha ha) :-)
Anyway, I was making long casts with a Damiki underspin, letting it sink to the bottom and reeling and twitching it back slowly when
another bass decided to make a meal out of it. Then on a spoon working it up and down off the bottom,I ended up catching 3 small bass.
One bass was so small I thought I hooked a trout...ha ha I probably need to replace a few hooks on a couple spoons as 3 other times
during the morning I had bass come unbuttoned which was frustrating. I continued to mix it up with baits making tons of casts and even
tried an ice jig and a spy bait down deep. I grabbed a rod with a bigger spoon on it and I was just bouncing it on and off the bottom slowly
and kind of daydreaming. I was looking over at the far shoreline and thought my spoon got snagged on the bottom until I felt it pulling
back. It was so exciting because I never really fished with big spoons much at all and had never caught anything on one until just a few
weeks ago. I was so jazzed when I landed another nice bass on one that when I came home, I immediately ordered a few more. :-)
Anyway...just ended up with a half a dozen bass.....but always better than staying at home.

Yeah, I needed to get some fishing in because I got a lot of stuff going on the next so many days in a row so I was pretty happy just getting out on the water…. and of course, catching some bass is always the icing on the cake.
Tight lines always buddy

They have a lot of action and on a few of them I took off the back treble hook and attached a blade to make
it even more visible in the water hoping it would look like a shad trying to get away.

Even the days of the Little George, they put a blade in the back.

They do sell Damiki's with a blade, but I bought
about 6 regular ones and had an assortment of blades and just rigged them on myself. Not hard to do and not my original idea
by no means....but think they work better with a blade.

Vinny have you ever tried the VMC hybrid bladed treble hook?

No, I haven't but they do look pretty enticing to add to a few of my baits and probably better to have a second
treble hook on to help better insure landing the fish.
Thanks @1Fishdude :-)

Great job out there! I haven’t fished spoons in years! Man now you’ve got me thinking. Cheers!
