Lake Jennings: Trout Season 2023-2024
November 15, 2023
Trout Opener: Trout Opener is this weekend! Wright’s Rainbows will stock 2,500 pounds for the opener. Our trout come from a family owned, commercial aquaculturist in Idaho. Ten percent of every stocking is over 3 pounds. We will stock 19,000 pounds of trout this season. The bait shop is stocked up with tackle, powerbait, and mini jigs for the opener.
What’s the Catch? DFW planted 700 pounds of trout last week. With the addition of 2,500 pounds coming this week, that’s 3,200 pounds of trout stocked in the last 2 weeks! Many anglers limited out by 7:00 a.m. from the shoreline this weekend. The trout were chasing jigs that were brown in color. Our rangers recommend using powerbait in similar colors, brown, green pumpkin, aniseed, etc. The bass bite has been on fire as of late especially by boat. They’re biting on shiners. Catfish are biting in the morning and late in the afternoon just before sunset. Mackerel and shrimp are tried and true.
Conditions:
The water temperature is just below 70 degrees. Dissolved oxygen is consistent throughout. The lake elevation has not changed recently, which means there’s plenty of shoreline for trout opener! The sun is rising at 6:11 a.m. and setting at 4:52 p.m.

Re: Lake Jennings: another 1,500lb of trout will be planted this week
The guy at the dock said to try trolling. Any tips on what to troll? Also what setup to use if you're on a boat?

Nice. I fished trout quite a bit this winter but not in the last month. Might as well go after them one more time before the season is over

You could troll the anglers.
When will they be stocking tilapia again?

Rapala CD03 is a great lure to troll for trout.
Also a kastmaster on a swivel works well
