Friday on the home lake!

I got to the lake at sunrise, clear skies and a light breeze. Soon I noticed a fog bank crawling over the dam, followed by the wind picking up and in no time the lake was engulfed in fog with a 20' visibility! I'm guessing the lake is up another 8'-10' from 2 weeks ago, another challenge to deal with! I decided to go with a small jerkbait to start, hooked up with a nice fish on the first cast and lost it on the jump. A couple casts later, landed a 2 lb fish, followed by a tiny guy. My next fish was my big fish of the day at 5.2lbs. My j.b. bite slowed around 9:00, only getting small fish then. The next 4 hours I mixed it up with 6" t-rig robos, Ikas, brush hogs, and finally d/shots...picking up at least 1 fish on each. I ended the day losing a nice fish on a spot where I knew there had to be a fish! I ended up with 15 fish, some not big enough to really count! I ended the day at 1:00, with the fog coming back in and the wind getting nasty!

Beautiful day in a Cumberland! Personally I love foggy conditions. However too foggy makes me nervous on a float tube. One time at Murray I got caught out in the middle of the lake in fog so thick that visibility was maybe 20 feet. For about an hour I had no idea where I was.

I was happy that boats aren't allowed on fridays..I would of been extremely nervous and probably would of beached it and just cast out! I've been out on Hodges in my boat when the visibility went to zero and I ended up near the launch area when I thought I was down Del Dios...scary feeling!

Looks like your home lake is doing much better than last year. Nice fish! How big do you estimate the one you lost?

Definitely better than last year, wish it was up about 15' more to put my rock piles in a better depth. I think my lost fish was an easy 4lbs..always are when you lose them......

“Definitely better than last year” …. That is an understatement! Last year it was pretty terrible.
Pretty shocked when the lake opened this year on how low it was, as compared to where the water was almost up to the concession stand last year. With the rising water, I think there’s gonna be a lot of good fishing this year as a lot of the rock piles are now under the water. By the way, nice job, Mcfish.
