Hodges report April 10

Hello all,
Got out bright and earlyish to Hodges. Something like 0630. No wind at all and water temp was 62F. Also no blanket of fog on the water, so you could see pretty well. Kind of made me miss the fog. Water was warm enough for me to poke around with the popper, and follow with the spinnerbait and then a 1.5 squarebill. Fruitless. Saw a bunch of tiny shad again, I took a photo of them last week, see below. This convinced me that a crappie jig with an underspin, a #7 Rapala and a little shad crankbait were the go to baits. For the rest of the day that was what I mostly used. Underspin got one. #7 Rapala got one. Shad crank got 9. Today's group was better than last week. Most of them were around 2 pounds, only one sample size fish today, the big one of the day was 3 pounds 8 ounces. I think that one might have been a better fish a couple weeks ago. She was kind of thinner. Fought like a tuna though, I thought that she was a 5 pounder until I got her in the kayak. Off the water at 1100, water creeped up to 65 F. That lake warms up quickly.
