A little late on the report but still soon enough to be relevant for anyone heading that way in the next week or two. We got out to the Martinez Lake area midday on Thursday and arrived to 20-25mph winds and cool/cloudy conditions. After a week of nice weather prior to this we weren't exactly sure what to expect. Water temps in the main lake area were 61-62 degrees, down 2-3 degrees from previous days. We did well on reaction baits (spinnerbaits+ red crankbaits) in the wind on day 1 but the main lake areas were barely fishable and we eventually decided to seek out some more sheltered backwaters. Water temps in the backwaters were even cooler, between 60-61, but we were still able to grind out some fish on wacky senko's. Highlight of the trip was a nice 5lber+ I caught flipping a black/blue creature bait just before dark.
Day 2 woke up to a little rain but overall nicer conditions then the previous day. Unfortunately the damage had been done and water temps had dropped even further. We managed a dozen fish on wacky senko's and flipping but had to work hard for every bite.
Day 3 was sunny and much warmer air temps, although the water temps were still in the 60 degree range. Caught a few fish that morning before on senko's and poop baits (Fish Arrow Heavy Poop) before breaking down camp and heading home. Much slower trip then we had out there last year but still had a great time exploring all of the water the area has to offer!
