3/8 El Cap

After heading to San V and realizing they were closed we decided to do the next best thing which was El Cap of course. Neko rigs and shaky heads were the baits of choice today. I ended up with 5 keepers and lost just as many with two breaking off at the boat that were well over 3 lbs. My parter ended with 4 and missed a few as well. Most of our fish were in the main lake and the lake was really crowded today. There was a boat on pretty much every spot that looked good to fish. Ended the day at noon but left them biting as I needed to pay the tax man. Biggest two went 4.5 & 3.5lbs. Would have had a pretty decent bag if I would have landed the other 2 but thats what I get for throwing 4 lb test today. Good times

4lb test...reminds me of the old days at San V with crystal clear water! I feel like throwing 8lb these days is light. Good job out there!

You are correct. Lightest line I usually throw is 10 lb but I thought I would make things interesting and it definitely was.

Was down there this morning. First moving bait action of the prespawn for me. Lots of hungry chunks! Only had a dropshot rod in my hand for about 4 casts LOL

Wish I would have gone there today. I spent 10 hours at Hodges and ended up with only catching one grebe on a crank. Great job!

But did it fight good? The weight?

The fight was not that of a pelican but was ok. The guy did stab me multiple time in the hand with its beak. The thing is so sharp! No joke! I have cuts all over my hand. I played the video of it screaming for my wife and both cats and the dog were like…WTF!!!!!
