Got on the water a little later than usual this morning, launching at about 8:30 with the air temp a crisp 32. Made for a very cold first run! Ended the day with 7 with the biggest only 1.68lbs. Don’t take any pictures because I was pulling them up from 55-60ft so it was unhook and get them back in the water before they decompressed. Had to fizz 2 but the rest made it back down on their own.
Literally had to drop on them in order to get bit today. Missed a couple of bites in 30-35ft but everything else was in the deep bushes on the dropshot.

Seems like a good time of year to tend the fire and read!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they have to be fizzed, or' weight released' to those deeper depths'?
They might disappear swimming down a bit but...will they float back up after awhile?

In my experience, as long as they haven’t “bloated” when they hit the surface, and you get them back in the water quickly they will dart right back down to the bottom. The two I had to fizz, it took me a bit to get them unhooked and I, literally, watched them decompress in my hands. Their eyes slowly pushed out and their bladder slowly pushed into their mouths. Once I fizzed them they were good to go. That’s why I don’t really like to fish them that deep when I’m fun fishing but it was the only way I could get bit
I sat in that one area for a few hours and never saw any of them resurface.
