Orange County Fishing Information 🐟

Post by admin »

It’s no surprise that fishing is a popular pastime in Orange County. Miles of ocean and numerous lakes provide ample opportunity for people to enjoy fishing from the shore, or by boat. Here are some of the best places for fishing in Orange County. Be sure to get your fishing license before casting your line and check with local beaches for fishing restrictions before fishing from the shore.

Everyone age 16 and up must have a valid fishing license to fish in the state of California. A fishing license is not required at the Santa Ana River Lakes, Irvine Lake and all piers. For surf or beach fishing a license is required for anyone 16 years or older.

Much of Orange County’s fishing options revolve around artificial lakes in its many suburban parks. Some of these waters are stocked regularly with trout in the colder months and catfish when things start warming up again.

The biggest freshwater fishing spot is Irvine Lake, but many smaller lakes and ponds dot the landscape.

The Pacific Ocean also offers a wealth of ocean fishing opportunities, from casting into the surf to catching a charter for some deep-sea action.
