Just read this. Passing it along.

MORENA LAKE – ALERT – As of October 4, boating, kayaking and fishing (even from shore) is again not allowed at the lake. Recent testing conducted by the City of San Diego Public Utilities Department found high levels of cyanobacteria toxins in the water that are caused by blue-green algae. When blue-green algae become a Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB), water activities are impacted due to public safety concern. Based on the recent lab results from the reservoir water sampling and using guidelines from the California State Water Board, the lake has been closed to all recreational activities and a “Danger” advisory has been posted. Safety of all park guests is a top priority for us so while closures are always a last resort, the lake will remain closed to water-based recreation until levels subside. Testing will continue on a weekly basis

LAKE IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR BOATING, KAYAKING - see below.

ALERT - As of October 18, 2023, shoreline fishing has reopened at the lake.

Recent testing conducted by the City of San Diego Public Utilities Department found high levels of cyanobacteria toxins in the water that are caused by blue-green algae. Blue-green algae are a natural part of the ecosystem. However, there are times when this algae “blooms” and grows rapidly under ideal conditions producing toxins. Testing will continue on a weekly basis – please check back for updates.

Same thing is happening with Castaic up here in LA and I believe Pyramid also had this happen.

It seems it's happening more often, no?

Considering it never use to happen, yep, it's happening more! I think it's especially unhealthy for dogs. Seems like most San Diego lakes have some sort of problems going on...good job water department..I know, blame it on global warming...ha!
