I bought a new Gut Hook lumbar pack to replace the one I've been using for hiking/fishing for more than a decade. Based on that pack, I'd say the timber hawk stuff is very good quality. Zippers, stitching, fabric on my old one are all in great shape. The little corded zipper pulls have broken and been replaced with paracord. The only reason I went looking for a replacement pack is the strap portion of the waist belt has basically rotted and has a couple tears in it, after being soaked with sweat on a few hundred day hikes.
I am a fat bastid (6 feet tall, 250 lbs, 40 in waist) and Gut Hook fits me, even when wearing an insulated parka and a hoody.
