While I was fishing at Santee Lakes once, some person asked me, "Are there pike in these lakes?"
I caught a Pacu once at another local pond a block from where I grew up when I was like 13.
Some dude swore up and down that it was a piranha and I just had to end the convo with, "Ok yeah dude, it's a piranha," even after showing him the Pacu teeth.
"....so you know there's peacock bass in here, right?" My friend caught one a few weeks ago.
Haha, that's crazy!

I remember years back someone pulled out a spotty from Santee Lakes

wonder if karma ever caught up to the planter.
Haha, that was my post! I found it dead, floating near the mats along the shoreline. Here's an image for anyone who didn't see it on the original SDFish.

Oh snap, I thought you guys meant a 'spottie' as in a Spotted Bass like they have at the lakes up north.
I didn't know it was a spotted bay bass. What moron stocks a saltwater fish in a freshwater lake?

OMG..That is classic!
Like whatever you say or were going to say in response doesn't not mean anything because his buddy caught a bigger one than what you caught or are going to catch. ( Most likely it was a 5lb bass anyway that his buddy assumed weighed 10lbs..ha ha)
doesn't matter if it was five pounds, ten pounds or twenty. It was imaginary anyway.
and when you ask to see a picture the fish always seem to be camera shy

And there will be some that
will show you the picture.
And then you're like, "Sooo...where's the picture of the 10 pounder?" after they show you a picture of a 4#.

"Um....naw man." - me
"But you have two! You're not using one. So let me borrow it!" - him

There aren’t any Fish in here, I’ve never caught one.”

How would you like it if I hooked you in the mouth?”
Why did you throw it back? I would have taken it.”
Can I use your Pole?
Can I have one of those Lures?”
Why do you only have one Rod?”
“ You see that Son? It’s a Bobber, just like where you get your hair cut.”

“You need to use Bait”
“You got a snag” (While the fish is taking Line)
You can’t fish here” You can’t fish here” You can’t fish here” “You can’t fish here”
I fish too many Park Lakes.

Serious question: where are all these City Lakes you guys are speaking of, besides Santee?

This stuff is funny. I have been missing out by fishing from a tube instead of the shore.
Related question: does the crazy naked woman at Black's Beach still harass fishermen?

I'm im LA county so we have quite a few around here. In fact, I'm within 15 minutes of 5 or 6 ponds, which is why I spend a lot of time at them during the week.

Not a pond, but crystal pier
"What do you catch off this pier, tuna?"
Gets mobbed by angry Chinese grandparents for throwing back a lobster that was on my shark rod
"Are there really fish this close to the waves?"

When I lived in LA, I would frequent Kenneth Hahn Park a lot and see some lunker bass in there.

Yeah, Im lucky to still be a WFHer, so i get to harass the local population of our bass around here. There are some nice fish in these parts, but very pressured.
As I told a little buddy who fishes with me at my local pond, "if you can catch bass here....you can catch bass anywhere."
Can't wait to get him on the bass rig and show him something more than shore fishing.
