It’s a great lure for around snags, and has good movement…I’ve only used the gold color on a recommendation for using in the St. Martin salt ponds for tarpon.. It got bit, but it also got spit out.. Tarpon are very acrobatic and have bony mouths…
A smaller size might be useful chasing croaker around grass or kelp… It might even get you a bass or halibut…

It's worth a try someday.

They use them for chasing red fish and sea trout in the South East...

When I lived in Virginia , the Johnson silver minnow with an Uncle josh pork rind trailer was top shelf on the Weakfish / Trout . There are some replacement types available but you don't hear much about them . Otter tails come to mind . Might still be worth a shot . WR

You’re a wealth of knowledge Bill..Thanks for the input… What do you think about using them in the bays around eel grass or even in the surf around hard structure or kelp?…

I've used them at local lakes with a spinner bait skirt and caught bass, not regularly. I imagine A strip of fish belly or a strip of squid could be beneficial in some instances for saltwater, or perhaps a gulp grub.

They cast good and have a really good wobble . The action should work on just about any species . The weedless design works well . Just give it a try in the different environments , it won't take long to find out if it gets clobbered . Good Luck

That's the surprising and good news part to me: they cast well. I only more or less pitched them into the brush.

They did cast well for me… Wind in your face did effect them some though…

Yep.. Spent the morning looking for some long sleeve t shirts for the morning fishing and lounging by/in the pool…. Dermatologist gave me crap on Wednesday when I saw him.. He said he was tired of cutting chunks out of my old hide… I’ve got 3 more to have removed after I get back from Cabo.. But, yea, trying to get my ducks in a row.. And starting to get wound up… ….

That's anticipation sounds neat. Take care of yourself, though,
I have a few of these and I use them a lot. I would buy again. They have little thumb hooks on the sleeve to keep them from creeping up, and with lightweight fishing gloves, when I use them, only the fingertips are exposed. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09HC9RF2L?re ... th=1&psc=1

Sorry I missed you post.. Thanks for the thoughts and the hoodie suggestion... I would just prefer a long sleeved shirt like that, as opposed to a hoodie... I always wear a full brimmed hat while in the sun (Red head and freckles... Well, mostly white head and freckles now. ), So don"t need/want the hood...

I was redheaded, or "ginger," when it was a curse, not cool like it is now. The hooded part is for the face protection. I can wear a hat and sunscreen, but I have never found a product that protects my lips for very long. They burn easily. One more positive aspect of surf fishing on the left coast is that our backs are mostly turned towards the sun and face away from it. That's how horrible it can be for light-complected people.

Your trip is getting close, though. Enjoy yourself, whether you're getting tight lines, or not, but tight lines!

Hurricane Lorena is putting a damper on my fishing prospects. Poured, howled and pounded all night and morning. Had to call room service for breakfast. The seas are very angry… Like an episode of “Victory A Sea”…
