4/13 Coronado

Post by galen »

Got up to the bridge right before 11. Steady action on the trusty crankbait. Also got a nice corvina in front of Tidelands on the underspin. Definitely a good day by my standards. 19 spotties with only a few dinks, 1 short halibut on a lipless crankbait of all things, 1 corvina and even a needlefish. Can’t remember the last time I caught one of those! Wind was terrible on the way back to J street, could have sworn I was on the open ocean.

Worst bite I got all day was the needlefish, go figure!

Tip: Never thumb a Triggerfish. I did that with my first one….bit the tip of my Thumb off clean as a hatchet.

I worked at a pet store in Ohio as a teenager. They had pirahna for sale. I was netting one for a customer once and it snapped and got the tip of my finger. Still my worst fish bite to this day. Even the 4 inchers are no joke.

solid spotties! I was gonna hit the south bay this weekend, for the tail end of the 'winter micro bite,' but it looks like Tidelands is the way to go. Thanks for nailing that down....

never been bitten by a corvina...never say never....
