Shelter Island pier/crabs

Post by Jussdone805 »

Got to the pier around 7am on Sunday, really just to get a parking spot and kill time wetting lines before Day at the Docks. Wasn’t much happening there, saw some macks and a baby stingray but not much else. But my son brought up some snagged kelp and asked me if these were baby spider crabs? Picture isn’t great but they sure looked like it to me. What do you guys think? We put them back on the kelp and walked them down the ramp for a gentle release. And we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. Got there before it was busy and left before it got crazy. Bought a bunch of new lures and some shirts, browsed all the cool booths, took a ride on The Dolphin. Great way to spend a Sunday.
