De Anza Project (Fishing ban likely inbound)

Comment period is ending soon on the 13th.

If you fish North Mission, or want to in the future, you will want to weigh in. I remember a few members of this board would get together back in the day for some good fishing fun up there, but it may all go away soon.

Like most links to bureaucratic documents, it obscures more than it informs. Are they planning on filling in north Mission Bay? And where does it state that fishing would be banned, from either the water or the shore?

It mentions a ban on motorized boating, but doesn't mention anything on fishing. How is the city going to acquire all that land? Eminent domain?

I believe all of the land is already city owned. Some is leased out by the citylike Campland. The golf course is a city operation and on city land.

Fishing isn't mentioned explicitly but any areas added to the current Northern Wildlife Preserve or Kendall Frost Preserve would have the same restrictions, which currently prohibit fishing (the document lists all allowed activities for preserve areas) - fishing isn't in the list).

Expanding the marshland and wetlands has potential for improving habitat suitable for improving fish populations.

Most of the areas that would have motorized boating restrictions are already in 5MPH or other restricted zone or shallow tidelands areas where water skiing or operating a PWC or boat at high speed would be hazardous at lower parts of the tide cycle.
