My son is out for the weekend from college, instead of meeting him for dinner, I like to spend the day outside fishing. We tried something new in lobster fishing. We did a noon to midnight on the Triton out of La Harbor, a half day fishing and half day lobster at Catalina Island. Since its lobster fishing only 10 people are allowed on the 65ft boat, amble room for fishing. Took about 2 half hours to get to Catalina. First stop fishing was basically all you wanted white fish. The second and third stop was really fun fishing. It was huge sheephead, sculpin, and halfmoon, all were nice size with lots of 5lb sheephead. Them halfmoons really fight for their size.
Now on to the lobster fishing. You got 3 pulls for lobster, 10 people on boat 30 pulls for whole boat. My first pull I got 3 nice keepers, second pull got 2 nice keepers and last pull nothing. My son also ended up with 5 keepers. It was pretty exciting getting to pull up lobster and see if you had any or not. One guy got 7 on his first pull, limit for him, and didn't get to pull again. Crew and captain were really great, it was a really fun trip out.

Re: Triton Lobster
Sounds like a really fun trip with your Son.. And instead of a 1 dinner out, you get many nice dinners with that haul...
