Anyone fish the little bodies of water at Guajome Park?
Guajome Park is the closest fresh water bodies to me, and was wondering if anyone has hit the little lakes/ponds off the hiking trails there. I usually fish the surf or jetties but my son wants to start fishing with me and the salt can be a little rough for the size equipment he can handle. Been to the big lake at Guajome a few times but there was no action and wondering if the hike to the other ponds is worth it or even feasible

There are fish in both the big pond and the little one, although the little one has just about zero shore access so is nearly impossible to fish. The big pond has carp, catfish, turtles and some small bait fish and bluegill.
From last year in the little pond, have not caught anything this year. From last week at the big pond (cornmeal dough with a slip bobber 5 feet from shore)

If you want to get your kid on some fish I’d go for catfish there. There’s tons of small ones easy to catch on pretty much any bait. Small hook and a split shot just enough to cast and sink to bottom

Right on, I'll have to get some worms and get him to have some more patience at the big pond. So far I've only tried some small curly tail grubs and old hotdog chunks on a drop shot.tomnilll wrote: Thu Aug 31, 2023 9:40 am There are fish in both the big pond and the little one, although the little one has just about zero shore access so is nearly impossible to fish. We'll have to work on practicing patience then, last time we went I had him use hotdog chunks and spoiled shrimp on a small drop shot. I couldn't get him to let it sit though, he just wants to burn it back and cast againA-Train wrote: Sat Sep 02, 2023 10:35 pm If you want to get your kid on some fish I’d go for catfish there.
