Shimano MGL reels in saltwater?
Does anyone use a Shimano MGL baitcaster in the bays or surf? Any problems or issues with the magnesium spool and the saltwater? Are they even magnesium or am I assuming? I think its stands for Magnumlite, but some reason I thought they had magnesium material.

Re: Shimano MGL reels in saltwater?
I never but wouldn’t be hesitating to use one if I have a chance too as long as proper care given after each time (rinse, air dry and oil where needed)
Nowadays, in my humble opinion, MGL spool is just thin wall aluminum with special design holes to save some weight. Even Shimano now advertises Metanium (magnesium body) as Saltwater Safe.
For Daiwa I would give a second, third and forth thought before using one due to well known bubble paint problem.
