Big ones!

Post by tomnilll »

Went out on the Old Glory and it was super fun...we went all the way to Tanner on an overnight boat (big thanks to the Captain). Got there about an hour after first light and there were 30+ boats there already on anchor. we did the same and in short order I hooked (and subsequently landed) a BFT.

I was very happy to be one of the 13 that boated one. Some notes:

1. Heavier gear was mandatory (I used 50lb with a 40lb mono topshot and 40lb fluorocarbon leader. Many (10+) were hooked on light line, near 0 were landed.
2. 36 people is a lot on one boat

3. The Captain and Crew of the Old Glory were the best, helped me get through 2 fairly large charlie foxtrots while i was fighting the fish.

4. It is all about bait selection: no red, fast swimming, hard to grab in the bait tank...get you bit.

Anyway, I washed off the skunk from my last trip and my freezer is full of Ahi!
