What a sad sight too see. I learned how to fish as a kid for crappie under the 15 freeway. The city/county has known about the dam problems for decades at this point. For now the lake is just a monument to our neglect.
Has anyone been up to Olivenhain recently?

So sad Hodges was my favorite lake in the eighties, caught a lot of fish down by the dam when water flowed over the dam.

Same, worth the drive in the 70s thru the early 90s. Even my Buddies caught lots of Bass. We got some Double Digits there too. Crawdads and big live Shiners were deadly. Then it just steadily went downhill. Less water, less fish. Finally not worth the drive from Orange County.

Playing RBI this morning. Was gonna cruise to Hodges after and check if it was fishable for Wednesday. You saved my afternoon. Thank you.

Re: Hodges or whats left of it!
I was very saddened and surprised to see how low it had become. I heard all the others speak on levels and read all the reports. But I had a bit of time and was seriously pondering fishing it Sunday. We are definitely becoming a freshwater fishing desert throughout SD county. There are several stories and articles regarding the reasons why this is happening. If you want to do a complete nosedive regarding the whole water situation. There are people that believe we are selling our water to the I.E. and we are under contract for several years. Whatever the case maybe it is very disheartening for those of us that fish our local waters.

Im sure people who own homes/property around lake Hodges have seen their property values decrease once their lake view disappeared as the lake disappeared .
