Barrett Saved the Best For Last!

After reading yesterday’s reports and our morning session today, Big B went out with a bang. Started in the dark early and hooked a few on drop shotted MM worms. Hit our usual rocks for sporadic action but as Shawnster said, the better action was elsewhere. On a tip from Tommy P, we headed to the very back of Pine for the first time in years. And good that we did, we found a consistent chase bite in the trees and surrounding area for about 2.5-3 hours. Smokey Ghost Swimming Minnows on 1/16oz jig heads was the ticket and the fish were much healthier than trips past. On the way out we caught a few more drop shotting and I was in the process of getting spooled on my lightest setup throwing a reaper before getting sawed off in the junk on the bottom. Hard to speculate the size never getting a glimpse but it had to be a whopper. I caught 57 and Dan 26 before cutting out at noon. Can’t believe the season is already over and bring on 2027!!!

PS before even leaving the dock in the dark, this pig was caught on an urchin bait. Pic is included.

Looks like you guys had a great day out there! It only took me 7 more hours to beat you by 7 fish (my PB)! Clearly I still have a lot to learn. Glad that Barrett gave us a solid close to an otherwise weird season — gives me hope that next year could be stellar, or at least better than the last.

Nice chunk caught on the dock! Would have been better if you photoshopped your face on that one. Haven’t been able to figure out uni baits yet. Caught a few fish with them but now mostly I just use them to scare my girl and kids around the house. They work pretty well pranking dogs too.

Bummed I missed some of the late action, but I’m stoked that the Big B provided for you all at the end of the year. After a strange one, we’ll get excited all over again for next year!

Yup, glad one of my buddies took tons of photos of our honey hole spots and other potential structures over the last few weeks that will probably be underwater.
