Solana Beach 9/20

[Perch killer]

After having good results in 2 previous sessions at this beach (3 corbina & 1 spot fin), made another trip this past Sunday. It didn't disappoint, my best corbina for this season, a fat 5 pounder at 22" on a fresh blood worm. Real fighter, got it in close & ran on me 3-4 times before tiring. Good one to cap off the summer. Hope this is a sign that we might have a better Fall season than this past summer.

They have been thick in Newport, I been putting the local Kids on them. They had no idea they were there.

Wow, very nice!! Must've been nice to feel the action after such a dud of a summer, haha. Looks some really high tides this weekend but relatively calm waves. Might have to get out there one morning and see if I can catch one of these corbina for myself.

Got to be one out there Joe with your name on it ! Don't know how far up you fish MB but for what it's worth (nothing likely), my experience fishing north of BP this summer was very poor as far as any quality fish which was zero. Just small perch, a guitar in the mix every once in awhile. Seemed to get worse closer I got to PB. Strange compared to previous years when I know quite a few corbina & croakers were taken both north and south of the pier. Perhaps the lack of sand crabs this year, who knows. Good luck to you !

This summer I've been mostly right in between BP and the pier. I spent most of last summer in south Mission, but toward the end gravitated to the pier. I've worked south this summer with each passing weekend. Been catch plenty of perch, just hardly anything of quality as you mention.

Still beats a morning of NOT being at the beach!
