HBB8 Tourney 9/12

Post by pseudoMoGil »

Honey Badger Baits had another tournament yesterday at Mission Beach from 7:30-11:30. The day started off cloudy with little wind and an incoming tide, great conditions and the bite did not disappoint! I brought 2 dozen ghost shrimp from Seaforth, using some cotton thread to keep em on the hook as I find them to be impossible to keep on otherwise. The perch were biting nonstop, though all models in the 6-8” range. I landed 6 perch on ghost shrimp but every single one got bit, i think my size 1 baitholder hook may have been too big, so I downsized and swapped to dried lugworms, landing 2 more perch and 1 tiny YFC. There was great structure from T11 to T13 where I fished and everything was biting really close to the sand. Biggest perch was 10” and someone won the biggest croaker category with a 21” corbina. Overall my best surf fishing sesh of the summer in terms of quantity, feels so good to get on a good bite!

p.s. I also booked myself a twilight charter at Seaforth at night in case I got skunked and that did not disappoint, getting limits of bonito and tons of calicos, someone even landed a yellowtail!

Any signs on sand crabs, guess not after all these storms?

Very nice! I haven't made it out recently with these storms but perhaps next weekend. Nice full day of fishing - and better yet, catching - for ya!
