San V with my son Sat 5/30

Post by Moose »

Son is in town for a few days so we got out for father/son time on the lake.

Arrived to the ECBT tournament launching after moving to San V from Otay. Thankfully there were only 17 boats so it wasn’t bad. Started out with top water and wake baits. Managed one on a soft Z-man popper. Missed several more blow ups on the popper, frog, and Gunfish. Lost a really nice one on the Gunfish that got me down in the weeds.

Once the sun came out we went to work with the dropshot. Got several 1-2lb fish and then we started picking off late spawners. The ones we found were pretty aggressive and didn’t take long to catch. This included our big fish of the day at 3.28lbs. It bit two casts after I caught the male.

Just for the heck of it we kept track of our best 5 to see how we would have done in the tournament. 12.72 won the tournament and we ended up with 11.95, which would have put us second by about an ounce.

We were off the water by noon. Not sure what time the ECBT tournament weighed in but we’d have been right there if were actually in the tournament. We ended up with 21 fish combined. Great day on the water with my boy!
