We're headed out tomorrow and would love to get the latest intel on where things are at so we can gear up accordingly.

I think folks might be tending to their depression with how poorly the lake has been fishing.

I’ll be out there tomorrow as well. Got some soft swimbaits coming in the mail today, so we’ll see if that helps grab any extra attention…
I was out two weeks ago, and it was fun enough. But I’ve been pretty beat & burnt out lately, so I’ll kind of be dragging my body out there haha. We’ll see how it goes.

My guess too. How are the boys? They get out there yet? If Theo can’t figure out the mystery and pound them good, I’m selling my gearShawnster wrote: Tue May 26, 2026 8:13 am I think folks might be tending to their depression with how poorly the lake has been fishing.

The water is very green with algae and the bite seems a bit slow. People are reporting low fish counts and mostly small fish. Obviously there are outliers and people have gotten some good fish. Barrett seems to bloom every summer, but this bloom seems early to me and seems to be affecting the bite. There's a couple posts about the effect algae and the associated covering on everything has on the fish and the fishing. Short answer, fishing seems a bit slow for Barrett. It's still an amazing place to go and enjoy a day outside. Expect a lot of slime on anything that goes through branches or touches the bottom.
