Re: More Harbor Action
Awesome blog. They always are, but I felt that one! It’s hard to convince non-anglers the straight up violence that a spotty can commit in heavy current around heavy structure, but I think you found the right words & way to do so!DarkShadow wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 2:46 pm Float tubin' LA county harbors is catching, and not fishing....

Re: More Harbor Action
Spotties are a dream fish. A 1 lb spotty easily outpulls a 2 lb largemouth bass. And they love lures, especially lures dragged across the bottom. Would be nice if they got bigger but just use light tackle to make up the difference.
Lift a largemouth bass out of the water by the jaw and he goes paralyzed. Try that with a spotty and he clamps down on your thumb with raspy teeth and doesn't want to let go. I carry a special pair of plastic pliers instead: https://www.basspro.com/p/bass-pro-shop ... SAQAvD_BwE
