Barrett Report 5/6/2026
Hi all,
Season opener at Barrett today. Fun to see a bunch of friends. We got on the water about 0500. Air was chilly, but water temp was 64F. Pedaled over to Hauser and first fish was on about the third cast on a popper. Played around until about 0800 in Hauser getting them on topwater and the usual swim jigs. Went to go check out Pine and went back pretty far. Pine fishes different than Hauser and has a lot of the sunken trees with impressive algae blooms on them. Chatterbait and topwater were the favorites for me there, but people were picking them up on flukes and jerkbaits. Most of the fish seem to be in the 10" to 14" range. Bigger fish seem to be quiet still. Big one for the day for me was 3 pounds 7 ounces, not bad, but not a monster. Wind was calm all morning and the day warmed up nicely. Have fun out there.

Everyone wants to know how the ticketing worked out, were all the double ticket holders listed twice on the clip board?
Thanks

Don't know, the float tubes/kayaks was over at pigs and was really great. Didn't notice if there was an issue at the boat dock. Boats were coming out early in the morning, so maybe it was all ok.BigTahuna wrote: Wed May 06, 2026 5:56 pm Thanks for the report!!

Lots of small fish for me too, got them on different baits, no real pattern. Not great numbers either, not the usual opener
Water level is down a lot.

Good seeing you guys! Opener was different. Water looked like they dropped it some. Hope they are not draining this lake now.

Thanks for the report guys! It's always fun figuring out the puzzle each year. Just when you think you've got it, then it changes. See you out there this season. Cheers!

By the way 619bassin that head lamp is blinding. I saw a white strip for a long time after I saw you. I need to get one, where did you get yours.
