Going there next week, been there many times before. Questions:
1. Is the water up in the green bushes and weeds or has it dropped?
2. Is the lake bottom clean or covered with filamentous algae ("elephant snot")?
3. Any shad spotted? Last year, the lake was almost shad free.
4. Any shad spawn going on?
5. Much topwater activity?
6. Any recommendations as to lures, where to fish, etc.?
7. Any parking issues at Pigs Point?
8. Any driving issues? How deep is the water crossing?
9. Did I leave anything out?

Re: Barrett questions
Hi, I did a couple of the charity events and this is my view of the lake this year. I'll post after the opener if you aren't going until the 9/10th
1. Is the water up in the green bushes and weeds or has it dropped?
It's dropped. Not too far from last fall, maybe another foot?
2. Is the lake bottom clean or covered with filamentous algae ("elephant snot")?
Depends on where you are. Some areas were a bit slimy but in a lot of Hauser it was pretty clear.
3. Any shad spotted? Last year, the lake was almost shad free.
Some, not a lot though. I found one big ball of bait. Lots of fry in the shallows.
4. Any shad spawn going on?
Didn't see it if it was happening.
5. Much topwater activity?
Water temp is already over 65F, so topwater is working pretty well.
6. Any recommendations as to lures, where to fish, etc.?
It seemed like everyone who caught fish, caught them on their favorites. It also seems the bulk of the fish are in the 10-15" range, with occasionally bigger fish. They still maybe deep, or spawned and moved into midsummer or something else.
7. Any parking issues at Pigs Point?
Parking is the same as it was, but they did grade the driveway down and it might be a bit wider.
8. Any driving issues? How deep is the water crossing?
Only one of the three water crossings had any water and that was pretty shallow.
9. Did I leave anything out?
I think this was a pretty complete list.

I would only add....."don't be the ONE who blocks the launch area......unload/load and park respectfully. Good luck......the lake is in great shape and fishing like Barrett.

Re: Barrett questions
Based on what I saw from Beefshaman’s report it sounded like a dink fest with a few fish in the 2-3 lbs range. Dannicus was the outlier with 3 fish over 5lbs. Regardless, I’m always stoked for Barrett season.
