No reports for the opener?
Just curious, anyone fish Barrett over the weekend? I was expecting at least a few reports.
The lake was open May 2 and 3. Correct?

I was hoping to see some reports from some of the charity events at the very least.

Re: No reports for the opener?
All the usuals are working. As Tommy P said Barrett is fishing like Barrett. What might be different is the average fish is smaller. Not necessarily unhealthy/skinny either, just smaller. The brain trust is working on theories there. But while that is the average catch, there were also some tanks caught, like 6+ lbs.MaxZmus wrote: Mon May 04, 2026 4:03 pm I was hoping to see some reports from some of the charity events at the very least.

Re: No reports for the opener?
I fished the Cast Hope event. The bite was very good using anything and everything we threw. Topwater, jerkbaits, jigs, frogs, senko/ika, swibait, etc. The bluegill bite was wide open for slabs. Without trying too hard we probably caught 50 of them on small grubs.
We started with topwater and had many non-commital bites but landed plenty. Don't be afraid to fish ultra shallow as we caught many in the shallow trees. There were also fish chowing on the micro bait in the middle of Hauser. At the end of the day they were coming up like bluefin 3/4 of the way back and it didn't matter what you threw at them...just get near the boils!
Good luck out there tomorrow!

Re: No reports for the opener?
Here is the video from the TEMAS Charity Event.
Long story short
The lake looks great, the fish are mostly small, caught them on whatever people wanted to use most. It was a great event on a great lake. Multiple fish over 6-8lbs caught.
See you guys out there this year!
Cheers!
