17' 1996 Ranger Cherokee 207

Post by Jrod »

Hey guys, just acquired a Ranger boat. Unfortunately my plan didn't pan out as the lake I was going use it at just banned all outboard and inboard motors - I have a boat for the SD lakes that I fish every week but this lake requires a 30 day locked quarantine which I why I bought it. So thinking of selling or donating for tax write-off. I got it from a local guy who was really cool and informative. It was his father's boat and he fished it with his Dad and then bought it off of him when his Dad stopped using it. It has been sitting in a boat yard for the last 3 years unused. The cover kind of disintegrated so has some exposure issues, especially the tires and seats. I have everything from the boats history including all service records. Other than cleaning it out, vacuuming and putting on a new cover, I haven't done anything else. I have 3 tires on order $250'ish that would be needed to move it. It had new carpet, seat upholstery and a Bimini cover put in (ordered from Ranger and installed by Angler's marine in Anaheim) back in 2007. Bimini fabric is shot but the hardware looks OK. The previous owner said everything was in working order 3 years ago when he last ran it. Has bow and console electronics that I haven't even looked at but look to possibly be original. Has a Mercury 115 and a Minn Kota Terrova trolling motor. I have tons of pics as was just starting to dig in with a plan. I think the carpet would still be ok. I bought some Bling Sauce seat and carpet cleaner and some seat conditioner to try but haven't started yet. Has both pedestals and seat but seat fabric is in baked condition and not sure if salvageable. I looked at Bass Pro and you could just replace all the seats (including the bench) with their fold down seats for pretty cheap - basics ones at around $80 and nicer ones $150. I think with a little TLC this boat could really fish and am super disappointed that it no longer makes sense to me.

Not looking to give away as could be a nice write off but would love to see someone who wants a low entry point and is not afraid of a little work. There is one online (Illinois) for sale that is totally updated and clean for $9,900 - you could also see how they replaced the bench with the seats I was talking about.

sorry, I cut off some of my post. Wanted to say there is another one for sale in MN (it is on Facebook) that is closer to my boats condition that was for sale for $4,900 and has sold.

This is the link to the one in IL for $9,900. https://www.boattrader.com/boat/1999-ra ... -10077942/

Thank you
