4/10- Headed to SD River but.......

Post by VinnyBass »

It was 7:30am and I just started to head out to the SD River. As I was driving down the freeway, I suddenly thought why not just keep going and head up to the lake...I mean pond of D & K. I know it was crazy as I would get a
real late start, but what the heck! On the water around 8:30am,missed the early bite and picked up a small bass before running into one of the D & K locals, @Fisheromen. Of course I had to chat fishing with him. He probably wish he had a bigger drill drive to speed across the lake, but he was kind enough to let me complain a little about how shallow it was etc. Anyway I ventured off to a few spots(you can see the whole lake basically because it was so low) and picked up a couple more clones. Then went over to a rocky area and stayed there the rest of the morning. It was very humbling as 3 straight bass broke me off especially with a guy fishing close by who saw it. I was using straight braid but the bass know the rocks were the answer to freedom. I finally started to land bass in between a few others coming unbuttoned and landed my biggest bass of the day at 5.25lbs. I ended up with 10 bass and wished I had planned to go there in the first place and arrive for the early bite, but I still had fun. Poor @Mcfish was not able to make it today as he was nursing a hang nail or did he hurt his ankle jumping up and down after Bogaerts hit a walk off grand slam in extra innings last night to give the padres the win? Either way, wish you a speedy recovery. :-)

Your leaders would break in a second.
I hope you’re feeling better soon and I really like my new rock pile. :-)

That's right..the City can't afford to pay one person to work the lake, even though if they kept it open they would make 10 times more money than what they pay him....! More brilliance from Toad Gloria!

I totally agree with you that it doesn't make sense at all. The way they are lowering the water at some of the lakes
makes you wonder if they may even close the lake to fishing to save money on City workers working there. Oh wait,
I should not say that or someone from the City may take action on it. :-(

It’s not a stupid question actually D &K stands for Donald and Kiefer since they were brothers and their last name is Sutherland, which is actually the name of the lake. It’s kind of a funny code name that started years ago to be used so that the lake didn’t get overpopulated with fishermen. So instead of saying Sutherland, people would use that code.
Now D&K is like a pond because its so darn low.
