4/6-Return to Murray

Post by VinnyBass »

Geez, I guess it is apart of being old but with the recent heat waves, water going up and then down to even close the ramp and then back up a little to open the ramp at Murray,I just have not fished there much at all. With a little cooler weather in the forecast, I decided to give it a go this morning. Cloudy conditions when I arrived and saw a few swirls out on the surface so I tossed a small Gunfish. Dang, I lost a bass on my first cast on a jump. I landed 2 small bass after that and later It seemed that each time I tried to get over to where a few bass were jumping, they were long gone, but managed a 3rd bass on that Gunfish. Lot of time was going by as a light rain started to fall. I tied on a Berkley Finisher which is a lipless sort of crank bait and landed 3 more small bass down in deeper water. Before leaving I tied on a Berkley Ripfish and landed 2 more small bass down deep(one being a hungry micro bass). Glad to finally get back out on the water again and while all the bass were pretty small, still had a fun time.

Couple pics...

Off and on in the later morning, but mostly
just made a lot of just random casts. The more
my lines in the water, the odds get a little better.

Just something extra:
I have electronics on one of my kayaks which I have taken up to the Lake of D & K on
Fridays. Last year I took my small kayak that has no electronics at all and had the best day catching bass in a
long time. It was noteworthy because McFish always catches more than me at his home lake, and I
caught more than McFish. Sometimes you just have to fish based on years of doing it and not always rely
on electronics.

I’m glad you got back out to Murray, I don’t get to go out much and when I get to go on my buddies boat he doesn’t have any electronics he does have a trolling motor and for us that’s a real luxury.
Now that you’re back I can at least read some posts as it’s been slow on the posts. Thanks keep em coming.
